Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- The newly elected Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu has presented its first state budget. Finance Minister Dr N. Marie Wilson outlined a plan focused on education, youth, women, sports and welfare.

The budget also targeted the previous DMK government over the state's finances. Wilson said Tamil Nadu aims to become a $1.5 trillion economy by 2031. He also praised Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for promoting transparency in public spending. The government said it would continue reforms in government tendering.
