Pakistan, Sept. 21 -- Vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply as tensions between the United States and Iran continue. Shipping data showed that only 12 commodity vessels crossed the waterway over the weekend.

The figure marked a significant decline from 35 vessels recorded during the previous weekend. The strait normally handles major oil, gas, bulk and container shipments. Before the US-Israeli war with Iran began on February 28, around 125 large commercial vessels crossed it each day.
