Pakistan, July 3 -- The United States (US) has reaffirmed its support for Pakistan's right to counterterrorism efforts, acknowledging the country's security challenges and the heavy toll terrorism has taken on its people.

Speaking at the US State Department's daily press briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Washington recognised Pakistan's security concerns and supported its efforts to combat terrorism.

"Pakistan has the right to defend itself against terrorist attacks," Bruce said, adding that the Pakistani people had suffered greatly due to terrorism.
