Pakistan, Aug. 22 -- The United States has said intelligence behind an Israeli strike on a Syrian airbase was incorrect. Washington said the intelligence involved alleged Turkish military activity.
US Ambassador to Turkiye Tom Barrack said Israel received information suggesting Turkiye was moving military assets. He said Washington later assessed that information as untrue.
Barrack, who also serves as a special envoy for Syria and Iraq, discussed the strike on social media. He said he did not know why Israel carried out the attack.
According to Barrack, Israel shared the intelligence with Washington before the information was assessed. He said US intelligence agencies determined that the claim was not accurate.
