Pakistan, Sept. 24 -- The Trump administration has acknowledged eight suicide attempts involving US service members during the extended deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln. The disclosure came in a letter from Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao.

Cao sent the letter to Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand after she raised questions about conditions aboard the aircraft carrier. The letter said there had been eight suicide attempts across the Lincoln strike group since its deployment began. It also confirmed that no suicides occurred aboard the carrier during the deployment.
