Pakistan, June 30 -- The US heatwave has prompted authorities to issue an extreme heat warning as dangerously high temperatures spread across the country following an intense heatwave in Europe. Forecasters warn that millions of people could face hazardous conditions throughout the week.

The US National Weather Service has predicted temperatures of up to 38degC (100degF) across parts of the central and eastern United States. According to US media, the heatwave is expected to last for several days and will likely peak on Friday, coinciding with the start of the Independence Day holiday weekend. Dozens of cities could break or match daily temperature records between Tuesday and Saturday.
