Pakistan, Oct. 2 -- The United States has deployed two additional Patriot missile batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The systems aim to protect key energy facilities amid possible renewed US operations against Iran. One battery went to Saudi Arabia last month to protect an oil facility. Another arrived in Qatar to defend a natural gas facility.

The deployments also seek to reassure both countries about US protection for critical infrastructure. Axios reported the developments, citing two US officials and a regional source. US President Donald Trump has said he may resume bombing operations against Iran. He also linked further action to whether Tehran agrees to a deal.
