Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- GUJRAT - The University of Gujrat (UoG) celebrated Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with patriotic zeal, reaffirming commitment to national peace and prosperity.

The day opened with Fajr prayers at the Central Jamia Mosque, followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony in front of the Vice Chancellor's Office Block.

Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt and Dean Prof. Dr. Zahid Yousaf raised the national flag as flower petals showered and chants of "Pakistan Zindabad" echoed at the campus.

The UoG security guards saluted the flag and staged a parade, while faculty, students, staff and families joined an Independence Day walk. A commemorative cake was cut to mark the occasion.
