Pakistan, July 22 -- The United Nations has warned of a sharp rise in cross-border online fraud, revealing that victims across East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand lost an estimated $88.3 billion to $114.1 billion in 2025 through romance scams, crypto currency investment fraud and other cybercrime schemes.

According to a report released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the financial losses are at least three times higher than those recorded in 2023, highlighting the rapid expansion of organised cybercrime networks operating across the region.
