Pakistan, Aug. 15 -- Ukraine has proposed a truce with Russia to halt attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea. Kyiv seeks to protect commercial shipping and vital agricultural exports.

The proposal was conveyed to Moscow through an intermediary, with Ukraine awaiting a response from the Kremlin. The initiative calls for both sides to suspend attacks on commercial vessels and port infrastructure.

The proposal follows repeated attacks that disrupted shipping around Ukraine's southern Odesa region. Shipowners reportedly halted port calls after Russian strikes targeted commercial vessels in late July.
