Pakistan, April 22 -- The United Kingdom has approved legislation that will ban cigarette sales to people born after January 1, 2009. The move is aimed at preventing young people from ever legally buying tobacco and creating what officials call a smoke-free generation.

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill has been passed by both chambers of Parliament and will take effect once it receives royal assent. It will prohibit anyone currently aged 17 or younger from purchasing cigarettes throughout their lifetime.
