Pakistan, July 9 -- U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States carried out military strikes against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels, warning that any future aggression would bring much harsher consequences. In a statement posted on social media, he said the US Iran tensions would escalate further if Iran repeated such actions.

Trump said the strikes were a direct response to what the United States described as Iranian attacks on ships passing through international waters. He warned Tehran that if similar incidents occurred again, the U.S. response would be far more severe. Earlier, Trump had also threatened additional military action against Iran while saying he did not expect a full-scale war to break out.
