Pakistan, Sept. 11 -- The Trump administration has proposed ending the 60-day grace period for certain foreign workers who lose their jobs. The change could affect H-1B visa holders in the United States.

Under the proposed rule, affected workers would have to leave the country after their employment ends. The Department of Homeland Security published the proposal in the Federal Register on Thursday.

The existing grace period has been in place since 2017. It gives foreign workers time to find another sponsor or arrange their departure. Workers can also manage personal matters before leaving the United States.
