Pakistan, Sept. 19 -- US President Donald Trump plans to personally greet Chinese President Xi Jinping at an airport. A senior US official said Trump will welcome Xi at Joint Base Andrews. Xi is expected to arrive next week for a White House visit.

Joint Base Andrews is located near Washington, DC, and serves as a major military facility. A US president rarely welcomes visiting foreign leaders directly at an airport. The planned gesture comes ahead of Xi's scheduled visit to Washington.

Senior US officials said the visit will include several formal events at the White House. These events will include an arrival ceremony inside the White House. Xi will also attend a military review in the Rose Garden.
