Pakistan, July 7 -- U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Ankara on Tuesday to attend the NATO summit, where alliance leaders aim to secure continued U.S. support through increased defence spending commitments. Trump is scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the summit's main session. The visit comes amid growing security challenges facing the alliance.

Trump landed at 1:51 p.m. local time aboard his new Air Force One aircraft and was welcomed by Erdogan and a ceremonial presidential guard at Etimesgut Air Base. The U.S. president then travelled to the Turkish Presidential Palace for bilateral talks with his Turkish counterpart. The meeting will be followed by an official dinner attended by NATO leaders.
