Pakistan, Oct. 2 -- Saudi Arabia has reported three alleged Houthi attempts to target Makkah and Madinah over nine years. Two incidents occurred in September 2026, while Saudi authorities reported another case in July 2017.

The latest allegation involved a drone attack targeting a power station in Madinah. Saudi-led coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said the attack damaged a transformer. He added that the incident did not disrupt the wider electricity network.

According to Saudi authorities, the September 16 incident involved another drone near Makkah. Saudi air defences reportedly intercepted and destroyed the drone south of the city. Authorities said it was stopped before entering Makkah's restricted airspace.
