Pakistan, Aug. 16 -- Tarbela Dam has reached its maximum storage capacity after heavy monsoon rains, while rising river levels have increased flood risks across several parts of Pakistan.
Low-level flooding has been reported in the Indus River at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma and Taunsa, while Mangla Dam has reached around 68% of its storage capacity.
Authorities expect low-level flooding in the Ravi and Chenab rivers within the next 24 to 48 hours, while medium-level flooding could affect connected streams and nullahs from August 17 to 19.
The weather department has forecast widespread heavy rainfall across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Kashmir during the next 48 hours, increasing pressure on rivers and drainage systems.
