Pakistan, Sept. 28 -- Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has responded to the ongoing controversy involving retired Captain Muhammad Safdar and senior lawyer Ahsan Bhoon. Tarar said Safdar is a respectable person but does not belong to the legal profession. He therefore advised Safdar to stay away from bar elections and related affairs.

Tarar also defended Bhoon and described him as a respected member of the legal fraternity. He said Bhoon's group had lost only one or two elections during the past decade. Tarar described remarks against Bhoon during the election period as a "cheap stunt". He also urged people to use careful and truthful language while speaking on television.
