Pakistan, May 21 -- Swedish palaeontologist Vivi Vajda and her research team are working to reconstruct ecosystems that existed around 200 million years ago in what is now southern Sweden, offering a glimpse into the Jurassic world once inhabited by dinosaurs and crocodiles.

Based at the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm, Vajda studies fossil and pollen samples collected from Skane province, where most of Sweden's Jurassic-era remains have been discovered. The fossils survived because deep cracks in the region's ground protected them from the ice ages that erased many prehistoric traces elsewhere in the country.
