Pakistan, Aug. 22 -- Sudan today represents one of the gravest human tragedies of our time. A country blessed with fertile land, abundant natural resources, strategic geography and a proud civilization has been reduced to a landscape of destruction, displacement and despair.
Millions have been uprooted, cities devastated, institutions shattered and an entire generation condemned to uncertainty.
Yet the catastrophe unfolding before our eyes did not begin with the outbreak of fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023. The war was merely the explosion of deeper structural weaknesses that had been accumulating for decades.
