Pakistan, Sept. 17 -- A bipartisan proposal is gaining attention as US lawmakers face growing pressure to address Social Security's financial challenges. Senator Bill Cassidy said Congress must pass reforms before the retirement trust fund runs out in 2032. Without action, automatic benefit cuts could exceed 20 percent. Cassidy has joined Democratic Senator Dick Durbin to advance the PROMISE Act. The legislation would allow lawmakers to begin considering changes to the Social Security system. Cassidy said recent financial projections have increased concern about the programme's future.
