Pakistan, Sept. 3 -- Sindh Abadgar Ittehad has lashed out at the Indus River System Authority of continuously violating the 1991 Water Apportionment Accord, alleging that despite surplus water in the system, farmers in Sindh are being deprived of their due share at a critical time for crop sowing.

Sindh Abadgar Ittehad President Nawab Zubair Talpur told Daily Times that poor governance and mismanagement by IRSA have left growers in Sindh without water, even as early crops require irrigation.

"Water is in surplus, yet Sindh's farmers are not being provided water. IRSA is in constant violation of the 1991 Water Accord," Talpur said. "Because of this, growers are not even getting the water needed for initial sowing of crops."
