Pakistan, Oct. 9 -- A station house officer (SHO) and his gunman were martyred when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on a police party in the New Karpa area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's (K-P) Karak, District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Khan said on Thursday.

According to DPO Khan, the police party from Banda Daud Shah Police Station was on routine patrol near the Karak-Kohat boundary when armed men opened fire.

SHO Daud Khan and his gunman, Farhad, were martyred in the attack, while a passerby was also injured.

Following the incident, DPO Khan reached the scene along with additional police personnel. The area was cordoned off and a search operation was launched to trace and arrest the assailants.
