Pakistan, Aug. 20 -- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited the opposition to meaningful talks, saying political differences should be resolved through dialogue to strengthen democracy and support economic progress.

Addressing the federal cabinet, Shehbaz said the government remained ready for negotiations and urged the opposition to decide when it wanted to return to the negotiating table.

The renewed offer follows earlier talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf that failed to produce a breakthrough, while recent developments have created another opportunity for political engagement.
