Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- A Senate committee has demanded detailed tax records linked to Rs1.12 trillion worth of tobacco sector raw materials. The committee expressed concern over repeated delays by the Federal Board of Revenue.

The Senate Standing Committee's subcommittee reviewed tax evasion, cigarette smuggling and irregularities in the tobacco industry. Senator Saifullah Abro chaired the meeting at Parliament House. Officials from the Federal Investigation also briefed members about cigarette theft cases in Peshawar.
