Pakistan, Sept. 23 -- The Senate and National Assembly have introduced a series of austerity measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and government expenditure, including allowing half of the National Assembly Secretariat staff to work from home.

Under the new arrangement, 50% of National Assembly employees will work from offices while the remaining half will perform their duties remotely. Employees working from home will remain available through telephone, email and WhatsApp and will be required to report to the office within one hour if directed.

The Senate has also introduced measures to reduce fuel consumption and control expenditure, with Senate Chairman approving the new austerity plan.
