Pakistan, May 8 -- Russia has strongly rejected a US-sponsored draft resolution against Iran at the United Nations Security Council, calling it biased and escalatory. The Russian envoy said Moscow would not support any measure that singles out Iran while ignoring broader regional causes of instability. The remarks came during a session on maritime security in the Gulf region.

Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said the proposed resolution attempted to impose a one-sided narrative. He stressed that any sustainable solution must address the root causes of the ongoing regional tensions. He also warned that passing such resolutions could further inflame instability in the Middle East.
