Pakistan, Aug. 12 -- The Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH moon is unlikely to be sighted on Thursday evening, according to SUPARCO's latest astronomical forecast. The prediction indicates that the Islamic month may begin two days later, subject to official confirmation. The development is relevant to Muslims across Pakistan awaiting the official start of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission said the astronomical new moon is expected to form at 10:37pm on August 12. This means the moon will be relatively young when observers attempt to sight it on August 13. Consequently, visibility conditions may not be sufficient for a confirmed sighting that evening.
