Pakistan, July 17 -- Qatar says its armed forces intercepted an Iranian missile attack early Friday, preventing the strike from reaching its intended target. Authorities said a child was injured by shrapnel during the interception operation. The incident underscores rising regional tensions following recent US strikes on Iran.

According to Qatar's Defence Ministry, the country's air defence systems successfully thwarted the incoming missile attack. The Interior Ministry said the injured child was struck by shrapnel generated during the interception and is receiving medical treatment. Officials did not immediately report any additional casualties or major damage.
