Pakistan, Sept. 1 -- Qatar has called for de-escalation and renewed negotiations between Iran and the United States. The appeal followed Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Doha also said it was working with partners to seek a peaceful solution.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari urged all sides to remain calm. He said renewed regional escalation would serve no one's interests. Ansari also called for a return to negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

The Qatari official also criticised Israel's actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. He accused Israel of using regional developments to create a new situation. He said the actions also affected Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.
