Pakistan, April 27 -- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the establishment of a 50-acre "film city" in Lahore aimed at reviving the province's film industry and restoring its historic position in South Asian cinema.

According to official statements, the project has been allocated Rs2 billion for development and is designed to provide modern, in-house filmmaking facilities under one integrated complex. The chief minister said the initiative was planned nearly two years ago following consultations with filmmakers, producers, and actors from the local industry.
