Punjab steps up transport checks before Eid
Pakistan, May 25 -- The Punjab government has launched a province-wide crackdown against transport overcharging, overloading, and unfit public vehicles ahead of the Eidul Azha holidays, as authorities prepare for increased passenger movement during the festive season.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed deputy commissioners and district police officers to conduct strict inspections of buses, transport terminals, and public transport facilities across the province.
According to officials, transport operators found involved in excessive fare collection or overcrowding passengers will face strict legal action. Authorities have also been instructed to cancel route permits and terminal licences of transporters violating official regulation...
