Pakistan, June 8 -- The Punjab government has formally requested deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram across the province, aiming to ensure peace and protect religious gatherings.
According to official correspondence, the Punjab Home Department sent a request to the federal interior ministry after recommendations from police authorities highlighted the need for additional security support during sensitive religious events.
Meanwhile, the province has asked for a total of 137 companies of Army and Rangers personnel, including 61 Army companies and 76 Rangers companies, to be deployed across 39 districts.
