Pakistan, Sept. 9 -- Punjab needs Rs135 billion to achieve a 90 percent literacy rate by 2035, according to the Literacy Department. The province faces a major education challenge. Around 9.6 million children remain out of school across Punjab. Meanwhile, nearly 26.8 million adults are still unable to read and write. Most out-of-school children are between eight and 16 years old. Many of them cannot easily enter the formal education system.
