Pakistan, April 14 -- Punjab Chief Minister(CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday launched Pakistan's first government-run "Deceased Transportation Service," aimed at ensuring free and dignified transport of bodies from government hospitals to their homes.

The CM handed over keys of service vehicles to authorities in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan, and inspected the fleet on the occasion.

She also met Rescue personnel and appreciated their services, directing them to perform their duties with dedication and a spirit of public service.

Under the first phase, the service will operate in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan, providing free transportation of deceased persons from government hospitals to their residences.
