Pakistan, Aug. 27 -- The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has set a minimum validity period of 180 days for prepaid mobile balances. The new rule will apply from October 1, 2026. PTA said all mobile operators must provide at least 180 days of validity for prepaid recharges. The move aims to protect consumers and create fairer practices across the telecommunications sector.

Under the new policy, users will not immediately lose their unused balance after the validity period ends. Instead, the expired balance will be restored automatically when the customer makes a new recharge. This provision will apply as long as the SIM remains usable. Therefore, customers can recover their previous balance through a fresh recharge.
