Pakistan, June 8 -- Tensions escalated in several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan as supporters of independent candidates staged protests against delayed election results and alleged irregularities during the ongoing vote counting process across multiple constituencies.

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, outcomes have been announced in 15 of 24 general seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as the leading political party so far in the regional assembly race.
