Pakistan, Sept. 6 -- Defence Day brought renewed tributes to Pakistan's martyrs and veterans who defended the country during the 1965 war. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honoured the armed forces and their families. They said the sacrifices and courage of national heroes remain an important part of Pakistan's history.

President Zardari said the entire nation salutes the martyrs, veterans and their families for their services. He said their sacrifices created lasting examples of courage, patriotism and devotion to the homeland.
