Pakistan, Sept. 14 -- Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Attaullah Shah has won the GBA-16 Diamer II seat after postal ballot verification and counting. The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission released the final consolidated results on Monday. Shah secured 6,618 votes and defeated Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party candidate Imam Malik by 13 votes.

The Election Commission had initially declared Malik the returned candidate for the seat. However, Shah challenged the result before an election tribunal. He argued that the returning officer issued Form-49 without counting the postal ballots.
