Pakistan, Aug. 28 -- PML-N's Barrister Iftikhar Gilani has been elected the 17th prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He secured 30 votes during the election held in the AJK Legislative Assembly on Friday. The result was announced by the assembly speaker after voting concluded.

According to the results, Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Sardar Mukhtar Ahmed Khan received 14 votes. A total of 44 lawmakers present in the house participated in the voting. PML-N leader Shah Ghulam Qadir did not attend the assembly session.
