Pakistan, Sept. 5 -- The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has made fire safety training mandatory for house officers. The decision follows a fire at PIMS Hospital that killed 14 children. It aims to improve emergency preparedness across medical and dental institutions.

PMDC President Professor Dr Rizwan Taj said the training will become part of house jobs. Medical and dental colleges will teach fire safety, emergency drills, and safe patient evacuation. House officers will also receive practical training for handling fire-related emergencies.
