Pakistan, Sept. 17 -- Pakistan has urged the United Nations to take practical steps toward resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. Pakistan's UN envoy Asim Iftikhar Ahmad made the call during a Security Council meeting.

Speaking at a Pakistan-hosted Arria Formula meeting, Ahmad urged the international community to act on existing UN resolutions. He specifically called on the Security Council to pursue a peaceful settlement.

The ambassador highlighted the risks of leaving the dispute unresolved, particularly amid tensions between two nuclear-armed countries. He said the Security Council had adopted more than a dozen resolutions on Kashmir.
