UNITED NATIONS, June 2 -- Pakistan has called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to military hostilities in Lebanon, expressing concern over the worsening security and humanitarian situation during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council.

Addressing the council, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, warned that the conflict was rapidly developing into a serious humanitarian crisis and posed significant risks to regional peace and stability.
