Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament today, August 17, gaining an important diplomatic role in global arms control and security discussions.

Foreign Office official Tahir Andrabi will chair the conference's meetings in Geneva and guide discussions through an organized, balanced and consensus-based approach during Pakistan's presidency.

As president, Andrabi will also prepare the conference's annual report covering negotiations, discussions and progress on its agenda. Pakistan will then facilitate work on a draft resolution for submission to the UN General Assembly and consultations on the 2027 agenda.
