Pakistan, Sept. 12 -- England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the third Test at Birmingham, completing a 3-0 series whitewash. As a result, England recorded their first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan.

England began their chase of 130 runs on the fourth day. Initially, Pakistan needed early wickets to defend the modest target. However, England remained confident despite losing two wickets during the opening stages of their chase.

Pakistan found some hope when Muhammad Abbas struck twice early in the innings. In fact, his two wickets put England under pressure and briefly gave Pakistan a chance to make the chase difficult. Meanwhile, the hosts needed 130 runs to complete a clean sweep.
