Pakistan, Oct. 6 -- Pakistan's Academy Selection Committee has selected filmmaker Muhammad Ali Naqvi's documentary 'Hanging by a Wire' for the 2027 Oscars.

The announcement was made by Pakistan Academy Selection Committee Deputy Chairperson Sana Zahra Jafri at the film's premiere at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF) in Canada.

The documentary has been selected in the Best International Feature Film category. It is the first time Pakistan has selected a documentary to represent the country in the Oscars' international feature film category.

The film is expected to be released in Pakistan this year, although its release date has not yet been announced.
