Pakistan, June 12 -- Pakistan recorded its second warmest year on record in 2025, with the national annual mean temperature reaching 23.9degC, which was 1.09degC above the long-term average, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26. The survey stated that 2025 ranked as the second warmest year during the past 65 years. Temperature anomalies were particularly pronounced in northern regions, with Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recording their highest annual temperatures in 65 years. The report noted that Pakistan's annual mean temperature has increased by approximately 0.5degC over the past 50 years, while projections indicate a further rise of 3degC to 5degC by the end of the century.
