Pakistan, Oct. 9 -- Pakistan is ready to resume mediation between the United States and Iran if needed, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider said on Friday. He confirmed that discussions on seven points were continuing and Washington had shared its position on the proposals. Islamabad wants the dispute resolved through negotiations.

Speaking at a weekly briefing in Islamabad, Haider said Pakistan's mediation efforts had helped establish direct contacts between Washington and Tehran. He added that a memorandum of understanding existed and some proposals under discussion aligned with it. Pakistan and other countries continued supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
