England resumed at 248-9 after rain and poor light limited the opening day to 56 overs. However, the hosts added 42 runs in 10.4 overs before Pakistan claimed the final wicket.

Gus Atkinson led England's late resistance with 45 from 46 balls, including six boundaries. Josh Tongue stayed unbeaten on 30 from 48 deliveries and struck four boundaries. The pair added 47 runs for the final wicket, helping England reach a competitive total.
