Pakistan, July 25 -- Local taxes and margins continue to make up a significant portion of petroleum prices in Pakistan. Official documents show consumers are paying Rs108.67 per litre in taxes and margins on petrol and Rs96.86 per litre on diesel.

According to the documents, petrol carries a petroleum levy of Rs80 per litre and a climate levy of Rs5. Additionally, the price includes Rs7.16 in freight charges, Rs7.87 as the oil marketing companies' margin, and Rs8.64 as the dealers' margin.
